Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara is a famous American actor and singer and songwriter, both of Irish origin. The passionate, fiery roles she played in a range of American films were loved by the green-eyed beauty , with fiery hair and flaming eyes. Her beautiful and glamour was much appreciated and she was widely regarded as the "Queen of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her characters onscreen reflected her strong, courageous spirit who fought to survive and gain recognition in a world dominated by males. She was always a "tough Irish lass" who will never sacrifice her respect and reputation to be able to play the roles she deserved due to merit. Throughout her career in the world of film, she always stood up against discrimination and injustice towards women actors, and for this, she earned a lot of followers. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", published in 2004 gave a candid account of her entire life and the challenges she faced when she made her way up the ladder to achieve success. She was an adventurous person who was not afraid to attempt herself at her own tricks. Through the years she appeared in over 60 films and earned a lot of popularity throughout the world. In 1968, she remarried with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former air force pilot brigadier and chief who were the pioneers of transatlantic aviation. O'Hara eventually retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1978, bringing an end to O'Hara's happiness. In the same year, she was diagnosed with having uterine cancer . She had to undergo an immediate operation. She was able to recover eventually. Her health deteriorated throughout her life and she was later diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six and short-term memory loss, and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara was 95 years of age, died peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on 24 October , 2015.
